The Wawasee Warriors will take on the Plymouth Pilgrims/Rockies at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Wawasee is looking for their season's first victory.
Wawasee blew Triton out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Thursday Triton got their revenge. The Warriors fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Warriors have suffered since May 25, 2024.
Wawasee got a good showing from Garrett Tittle, who tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Furthermore, Tittle didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April.
At the plate, Wawasee saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Mack, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Plymouth hadn't done well against Goshen recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Pilgrims/Rockies were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the RedHawks.
Preston Wolfe made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs. Plymouth is 5-1 when Wolfe posts two or more runs, but 7-9 otherwise.
In other batting news, Ben Shively was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Nick Manzuk was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Plymouth hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Goshen struck out seven times.
Plymouth is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Wawasee, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-17.
Wawasee might still be hurting after the 7-1 loss they got from Plymouth when the teams last played back in April. Will the Warriors have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
