Desert Oasis has gone 8-2 against Durango recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The two teams, after both having extra time off, will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field at 3:00 p.m. One thing working in Desert Oasis' favor is that they have posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season.
Desert Oasis is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Sierra Vista, who was ranked 24th at the time (Desert Oasis was ranked fifth). The Diamondbacks' pitcher stepped up to hand the Mountain Lions a 22-0 shutout last Thursday. Fans of the Diamondbacks have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Alissa Perkins was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Perkins was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.
In other batting news, Desert Oasis got a massive performance out of Kaitlyn Dunigan, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Veyda Simon, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one double.
Desert Oasis kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2025.
Meanwhile, Durango won against Cheyenne last Tuesday with 16 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again last Thursday. Everything went the Trailblazers' way against Western as they made off with a 16-1 victory. The win continues a trend for the Trailblazers in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won six in a row.
Leiah Biscocho was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. Jailynn Ford was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
The victory got Durango back to even at 2-2. As for Desert Oasis, their record now sits at 5-0.
Durango's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Desert Oasis has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Durango, though, as they've been averaging 10.5 hits. Given Desert Oasis' sizable advantage in that area, the Trailblazers will need to find a way to close that gap.
Desert Oasis skirted past Durango 11-9 in their previous meeting back in April of 2019. Will the Diamondbacks repeat their success, or do the Trailblazers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
