It was a good run, but the Danvers Falcons unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of Gloucester by a score of 45-42. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Danvers has scored all season.
Danvers' loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Benjamin Hanas, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 18 rebounds, and Connor DiTomaso who scored 12 points. Those 18 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Kevin Ahearn, who scored five points.
Even though they lost, Danvers were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Danvers' loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Gloucester, their victory bumped their record up to 1-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Danvers will challenge Beverly at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Beverly knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Danvers likes a good challenge. As for Gloucester, they will head out on the road to face off against Masconomet Regional at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
