The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Spanish Fort in their matchups with McGill-Toolen: they've now lost seven in a row.
Spanish Fort's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lucca Nelson, who scored ten points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Jacob Black, who scored 15 points.
Spanish Fort has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-14 record this season. As for McGill-Toolen, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 20-5.
Spanish Fort will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Saraland at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. Saraland will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 326th, while Spanish Fort is ranked 155th). As for McGill-Toolen, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against UMS-Wright Prep at 12:30 p.m. on January 27th.
