With a playoff game on the line, the Roswell Hornets rose to the challenge on Friday. They blew past River Ridge 51-24 at home. The result was nothing new for Roswell, who have now won nine matches by 27 points or more so far this season.
Roswell had a senior duo take command as Nykahi Davenport rushed for 172 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries and Kenneth "kj" smith rushed for 100 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries. Davenport really tore up the turf during one magnificent 80-yard run.
The victory was the seventh in a row for Roswell, bringing their record for this year to 10-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-9 Lassiter and 1-9 Johns Creek (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 38.2% over those games). As for River Ridge, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
Roswell will look to defend their home field on Friday against Lanier at 7:30 p.m. Lanier will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. River Ridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
