It'll be a Battle of the Birds when Juanita Ravens face off against Issaquah Eagles at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.
Juanita is headed into the contest having just suffered their biggest loss since March 13, 2024 on Saturday. They came up short against Redmond, falling 11-4.
Calista Labugen made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Issaquah hadn't done well against Skyline recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Issaquah put the hurt on Skyline with a sharp 16-2 victory. The win was just business as usual for the Eagles, who after four games remain undefeated this season.
Shae Erickson (2027) made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Erickson (2027) was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Campbell Garvey (2027) was incredible, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Abby Cleveland (2026), who scored three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Issaquah kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Issaquah's victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. As for Juanita, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-4.
Monday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Juanita hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. However, it's not like Issaquah struggles in that department as they've averaged .448. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Juanita beat Issaquah 10-6 in their previous meeting back in March of 2018. Does Juanita have another victory up their sleeve, or will Issaquah turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
