The Notre Dame Titans came tearing into Thursday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 42.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past Green 62-33 on the road. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 37-15.
Gracie Ashley was her usual excellent self, scoring 23 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. She hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Katie Strickland, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
Despite the defeat, Green saw an underclassman step up: Abbie Knapp dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 rebounds. That was a full 57.6% of Green's points, marking the eighth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Matti Hayslip, who scored six points along with two steals.
Notre Dame has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season. As for Green, their loss dropped their record down to 10-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Notre Dame will take on Fisher Catholic at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Notre Dame is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Green, they will be playing at home against Manchester at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Green is facing Manchester at the right time seeing as Manchester is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
