Fremont got a massive performance out of Bodee Hawkins, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Hawkins continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. Kasen Pearson also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Fremont always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Box Elder hadn't done well against Farmington recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Bees put the hurt on the Phoenix with a sharp 14-4 win. The Bees' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Maddox Earnest was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Porter Francom, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Fremont's record is now 4-2. As for Box Elder, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-6.
Box Elder's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Fremont has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .455. It's a different story for Box Elder, though, as they've only averaged .322. Will they be able to contain Fremont's hitters?
Everything went Fremont's way against Box Elder in their previous matchup back in March of 2019, as Fremont made off with a 12-4 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Silverwolves since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
