There's no place like home for the Payson Longhorns, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They took down Blue Ridge 73-55 on Thursday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Payson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Anderson Hatch, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Hatch hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Sergio Madrid, who scored 13 points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Payson pushed their record up to 9-8 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.0 points per game. As for Blue Ridge, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.
Payson will head out on the road to face off against Winslow at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Winslow knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Payson likes a good challenge. As for Blue Ridge, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Show Low at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Show Low and Blue Ridge are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
