Softball Game Preview: Reed-Custer Comets vs. Clifton Central Comets

Reed-Custer is a perfect 7-0 against Clifton Central since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. Reed-Custer will look to defend their home field against Clifton Central at 4:30 p.m. Reed-Custer is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Reed-Custer and Sandwich meet (six straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Comets fell just short of the Indians by a score of 5-4.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Clifton Central's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 11-6 to Pontiac.

Lia Prairie made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Ella Ponton, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Reed-Custer's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Clifton Central, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5-1.

Reed-Custer took their victory against Clifton Central in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 12-0 score. Will Reed-Custer repeat their success, or does Clifton Central has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
