Abi Blankenship was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off 11 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and one RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high.
Blankenship wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Emily Diaz, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs Diaz has posted since back in April.
Meanwhile, NorthWood got the win against Plymouth on Monday by a conclusive 16-6. Considering the Panthers have won nine matches by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Goshen, NorthWood also got a great game from a two-way player: Chloe Davis. She tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Davis was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, Payton Sears was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one run. Brooklyn Davis was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
NorthWood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are 8-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
NorthWood is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Goshen, their win bumped their record up to 5-16.
Goshen might still be hurting after the 16-1 defeat they got from NorthWood in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Will the RedHawks have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
