Burbank and Lanier are an even 4-4 against one another since November of 2014, but not for long. The Burbank Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lanier Voks at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Burbank knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Lanier likes a good challenge.
Burbank stacked a fourth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They blew past Edison 40-14. Given Burbank's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 534th, while Edison is ranked 1106th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Burbank got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Keven Hernandez out in front who rushed for 147 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries, and also threw for 101 yards and a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Johnny Alvarado, who gained 130 total yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 38 points the game before, Lanier were a bit more limited in their match on Saturday. They were outmatched by Alamo Heights at home and fell 63-7.
Burbank's win was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-1. As for Lanier, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.
Burbank ended up a good deal behind Lanier in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, losing 36-20. Will Burbank have more luck at home instead of on the road?
