Washington County posted their closest victory yet this season on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 45-42 victory over Bertie. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Washington County has scored all season.
It was another big night for Brandon Carter Jr., who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. Carter Jr. is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Amari Chesson, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Tarboro scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They skirted past Rocky Mount Prep 79-77. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Washington County's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-0. As for Tarboro, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-10.
Everything came up roses for Washington County against Tarboro in their previous meeting last Wednesday as the team secured a 77-40 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Washington County since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
