Ocala Christian is 0-10 against Countryside Christian since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Ocala Christian Crusaders will head out on the road to face off against the Countryside Christian Minutemen at 6:00 p.m. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Monday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Ocala Christian beat Citrus 44-38.
Meanwhile, Countryside Christian had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.6 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. They secured a 43-39 W over Branford. Given Countryside Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 221st, while Branford is ranked 573rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Samantha Keith was her usual excellent self, scoring 24 points. The game was her sixth in a row with at least ten points. Madelyn Watson was another key contributor, scoring six points.
The victory got Ocala Christian back to even at 2-2. As for Countryside Christian, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Ocala Christian came up short against Countryside Christian when the teams last played back in January, falling 45-37.
