The Forestview Jaguars will head out on the road to square off against the Kings Mountain Mountaineers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Forestview has three straight wins, Kings Mountain has 15 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Forestview stacked an eighth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 60-38 margin over Ashbrook. Given Forestview's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 211th, while Ashbrook is ranked 431st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Forestview's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tralyn Phillips, who scored 14 points along with five steals. Phillips is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Molly Forgan, who scored five points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Kings Mountain came up short against North Gaston on Friday and fell 45-36.
Forestview is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Kings Mountain, they bumped their record down to 0-10 with that defeat, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Forestview was dealt a bruising 65-36 loss at the hands of Kings Mountain in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Forestview was down 37-10.
