The West Jordan Jaguars will square off against the Granger Lancers at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (West Jordan has four straight victories, Granger has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Granger's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Thursday: West Jordan hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Jaguars' pitchers stepped up to hand Kearns a 13-0 shutout on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Jaguars, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Rita Tavita made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Arianna Fjeldsted was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Hailey Fox, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
West Jordan hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kearns struck out nine times.
Meanwhile, Granger lost a heartbreaker to Hunter when they met back in April of 2024, and they left with a heavy heart again on Wednesday. The Lancers lost 18-4 to the Wolverines.
Granger saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alyiana Arriaga, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Mia Hernandez was another, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one double.
Granger's defeat dropped their record down to 4-15. As for West Jordan, their win bumped their record up to 12-3.
Everything went West Jordan's way against Granger when the teams last played back in March, as West Jordan made off with a 25-6 victory. Will the Jaguars repeat their success, or do the Lancers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
