Halifax County has gone a perfect 3-0 against Chatham recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Comets will take on the Cavaliers at 5:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Halifax County has six straight wins, Chatham has eight straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Halifax County barely beat Tunstall the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Comets put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 11-0 victory on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Comets, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

Logan Clark was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one triple. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Halifax County let Carter Thomasson and Jay Farmer run wild. Thomasson got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Farmer went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Jaharie Edmonds, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Halifax County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .567 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Chatham's offense. They came up short against Nelson County on Friday, falling 14-0. The shutout was out of character for the Cavaliers seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.
Halifax County's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-6. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Chatham, their loss dropped their record down to 1-12.
Everything went Halifax County's way against Chatham in their previous matchup two weeks ago, as Halifax County made off with an 11-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Comets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
