At the plate, Evansville North let Hannah Wilke and Ripley Anderson run wild. Wilke went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run, while Anderson went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave Anderson a new career-high. Isabelle Davenport also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Evansville North hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 9-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Castle beat Evansville Reitz 9-6 on Tuesday. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
Sadie Winsett made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. Winsett was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emma Bruggenschmidt, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Mati Hughes was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Evansville North has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Castle, their record is now 14-12.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Evansville North hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Castle struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
