Softball Recap: Chilton Wins Going Away Against Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Wrightstown, Chilton was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 16-6 margin over the Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Resorters. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by ten runs or more this season.

Gwendolyn Sell made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off three hits. Sell was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Reegan Woodard, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Mya Grenzer, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Chilton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in three consecutive games.

Chilton's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-9. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.7 runs over those games. As for Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 9-8 record.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chilton will face off against Kiel at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah, they will challenge Hilbert at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Wolves have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed nine runs per game on average), something the Resorters will no doubt try to take advantage of.
