Baseball Recap: Sunbright Sets Scoring Season-High Against Jellico

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sunbright). Everything went their way against the Jellico Blue Devils on Tuesday as they made off with a 17-6 victory. The Tigers have beaten the Blue Devils the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Blue Devils has come to flipping the script.

Sunbright got a big performance out of Grayson Newport, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Those three runs gave Newport a new career-high. Levi Walker was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Sunbright always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Sunbright picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 2-12. As for Jellico, they dropped their record down to 0-13 with the loss, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Sunbright will venture away from home to take on Oakdale at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Jellico, they will be playing at home against Lynn Camp at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.67 runs per game on average), something the Blue Devils will no doubt try to take advantage of.
