Porterville (Calif.) 28-13 on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown in the first quarter, the Mustangs were up 13-0 at the half.
By the end of the third, Tulare Western found itself trailing by 13 points as the Panthers captured the lead thanks to two scores in the quarter. Porterville scored on a touchdown pass by
Dennis Chester to
Austin Hefner and a touchdown in the quarter.
Tulare Western's standout player in the win was
Adam Garcia. The senior tight end kicked three extra points.
The Tulare school went into the matchup giving up only 15.7 points per game. The 13 points that PHS ended with were well below its average of 47.2 coming into the game.
The victory is a complete turnaround from last season's game between these two teams, which the Panthers took, 47-0.
With the win the Mustangs extended their winning streak to four games.
In a East Yosemite game next week Tulare Western (5-2) takes on Mission Oak, and Porterville (5-2) will go up against Tulare Union also in a East Yosemite game.
