After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Legacy Christian Academy, the Veritas Classical Academy Lions were happy to have found some success on Friday. They walked away with a 48-40 win over School of the Woods.
It was another big night for Ty Merrill, who scored 25 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Veritas Classical Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Jake Strahan, who scored 8 points.
School of the Woods' lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Adam Zagaar, who scored 21 points along with 3 steals. The match was Zagaar's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Gwinn, who scored 8 points along with 11 rebounds.
The victory got Veritas Classical Academy back to even at 2-2. As for School of the Woods, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.
Veritas Classical Academy will take on Diboll at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for School of the Woods, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Beta Academy at 7:00 p.m.
