Troy is 9-1 against Stebbins since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Trojans will be playing at home against the Indians at 5:30 p.m. Troy is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Troy barely beat Tippecanoe the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Trojans' pitcher stepped up to hand the Red Devils a 10-0 shutout on Friday. Considering the Trojans have won 14 contests by more than eight runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Maliah Shaw was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Emily May was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Troy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Stebbins narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Xenia 14-12. The win continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Buccaneers: they've now won five in a row.
Stebbins let Kyley Russell and Emma Taylor run wild. Russell went 2-for-5 with six RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Taylor got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those six RBI gave Russell a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Geisel, who went 3-for-5 with three runs and one RBI.
Stebbins now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Troy, their victory bumped their record up to 18-0.
Stebbins' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Troy has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 13.7 hits per game. It's a different story for Stebbins, though, as they've been averaging 12.3 hits. Given Troy's sizable advantage in that area, the Indians will need to find a way to close that gap.
Troy came out on top in a nail-biter against Stebbins in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, sneaking past 5-3. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Indians have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
