After a string of four wins, King's Way Christian's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of the La Center Wildcats by a score of 5-3. The Knights were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wildcats earlier this season, when they won 9-5.

Derek Tarnoski put in work no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up five earned runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Reece Johnson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 3-for-3.

Even though they lost, King's Way Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as La Center only posted an OBP of .321.

King's Way Christian's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 4-3. As for La Center, they pushed their record up to 5-3 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. King's Way Christian will venture away from home to challenge Cascade Christian at 1:00 p.m. on April 5. King's Way Christian is facing Cascade Christian at the right time seeing as Cascade Christian is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for La Center, they will head out to take on R.A. Long at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
