Softball Recap: Bridgeland Extends Winning Streak to Four

After only two runs in their last match, Bridgeland made sure to put some runs up on the board against Cypress Lakes on Friday. The Bears put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 16-0 victory. Considering the Bears have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Lucy Sharon made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February of 2024.

In other batting news, Addy Gibbons was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexie Mingle, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI.

Bridgeland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cypress Lakes only posted an OBP of .077.

The win was the fourth in a row for Bridgeland, bringing their record up to 15-10. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Cypress Lakes, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 14 of their last 17 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-16 record this season.

Bridgeland didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 2-1 loss against Cypress Ranch on the 15th. As for Cypress Lakes, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 16-1 defeat against Langham Creek on the 15th.
