The Yorktown Tigers won the last time they faced the Mississinewa Indians, and things went their way on Wednesday too. Yorktown managed a 43-39 win over Mississinewa. The win made it back-to-back wins for Yorktown.
Yorktown found their leader in underclassman Lilly Sylvester, who scored 27 points along with nine rebounds. The matchup was Sylvester's 11th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayley Reece, who scored five points.
When it comes to explaining why Mississinewa lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jaci Crick. Despite the final result, she scored 12 points along with three steals. Crick scored a full 30.8% of Mississinewa's points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Emma Wakeman was another key contributor, scoring four points.
Mississinewa struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Yorktown's victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Mississinewa, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.
Yorktown will head out on the road to face off against Pendleton Heights at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Mississinewa will be home for the holidays to greet Madison-Grant at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Madison-Grant is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
