J.P. McCaskey is 0-10 against Manheim Township since April of 2018 but things could change on Monday. The Red Tornado will head out on the road to challenge the Blue Streaks at 7:00 p.m. J.P. McCaskey will be strutting in after a victory while Manheim Township will be coming in after a loss.
J.P. McCaskey will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Reading on Friday. The Red Tornado's pitcher stepped up to hand the Red KNights a 15-0 shutout. Considering the Red Tornado have won six games by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Aleximar Ruiz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, J.P. McCaskey let Alayah Gartman and Lleana Martinez run wild. Gartman went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Martinez went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Martinez has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Sanya Mumma, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one stolen base.
J.P. McCaskey always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .690. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Reading only posted an OBP of .188.
Meanwhile, while it was Manheim Township who put the first runs on the board on Friday, it was Mechanicsburg who put up more. The Blue Streaks fell 4-1 to the Wildcats. The Blue Streaks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Manheim Township now has a losing record of 7-8. As for J.P. McCaskey, they moved to 7-10 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.
J.P. McCaskey's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's contest. The Red Tornado have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.4 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Manheim Township, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will J.P. McCaskey continue to outrun the ball?
J.P. McCaskey might still be hurting after the 16-3 defeat they got from Manheim Township in their previous meeting on April 9th. Can the Red Tornado avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
