Maricopa is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will welcome the Canyon del Oro Dorados at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Maricopa is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They came out on top against Pueblo by a score of 13-8 on Thursday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Rams needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Travis Varela was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. Varela was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while going 1-for-4. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Connor Jackson was incredible, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Will Hawkins, who scored two runs and stole a base.
Meanwhile, Canyon del Oro waltzed into their game on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Bobcats a 9-0 shutout. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last seven times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Not much got past Regen Mazura, who gave up just three hits and racked up ten Ks to keep Cienega off the board. Mazura has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Canyon del Oro let Tarrell Reid and Francisco Rivero run wild. Reid scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Rivero got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Hoyler, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Canyon del Oro hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cienega struck out ten times.
Canyon del Oro pushed their record up to 10-3 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 9.1 runs this season. As for Maricopa, they moved to 4-7 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.
Maricopa might still be hurting after the 11-0 defeat they got from Canyon del Oro in their previous meeting back in April of 2015. Will Maricopa have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
