3A Region III District 24 recap October 8, 2013
Stafford added to the longest winning streak in 3A Region III District 24 this week by beating Palacios, 57-7. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Spartans.
Stafford moved up to 283 from 334 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Ron Counter's team climbed the ranks as a result of besting the Sharks 57-7.
Adrian Seales was a beast in the backfield as the Spartans beat Palacios.
Seales provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Stafford beat the Sharks. Seales' key target this week was Wesley Huff, who caught 2 passes for 35 yards.
Seales was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 13 carries, he ran for 291 yards as the Spartans fell to Bay City. Teammate Brian Imarenozor added to the ground attack by rushing for 22 yards.
Columbia's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Roughnecks feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Jarius Kesee has thrown for 580 yards and 48 touchdowns this season, while Brandon Harris has 8 catches for 122 yards.
One of 3A Region III District 24's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when the Roughnecks and Stafford face off next week.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Sweeny takes on La Marque. The Bulldogs are currently in second, while the Cougars are in third.
The Spartans took down Palacios 57-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Seales ran for 291 yards during the win.
