Borger is 0-7 against Canyon since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Borger Bulldogs will head out on the road to take on the Canyon Eagles at 6:30 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Borger has struggled recently with 17 defeats in a row, while Canyon will arrive with three straight victories.
Borger suffered their biggest defeat since December 19, 2023 on Tuesday. They were beaten by Perryton 74-45. While losing is never fun, Borger can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1282nd, while Perryton is ranked 495th).
Borger's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Tahqulin Brooks, who scored 21 points along with nine rebounds and four steals, and Kaeden Jennings who scored 16 points along with three steals. Jennings' trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for five games straight.
Meanwhile, Canyon put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season last Tuesday. They breezed by Dumas at home to the tune of 65-28. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 39-14.
Borger's defeat was their 15th straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-20. As for Canyon, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season.
Borger was taken down by Canyon 70-36 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Borger was down 35-14.
