Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ridgway). They walked away with a 65-58 win over the Nucla Mustangs on Thursday. For the Demons, this counts as revenge for the 61-60 victory the Mustangs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.
Isaac Baskfield had a dynamite game for Ridgway, going 10 of 17 en route to 27 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Harper Crane, who posted 13 points and three steals.
Despite the loss, Nucla saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Austin Garvey went 7 of 10 on his way to 18 points. The dominant performance gave Garvey a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Brycen Rummel, who put up eight points in addition to eight boards and seven assists.
The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-5. As for Nucla, their record is now 7-3.
Ridgway wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 73-56 victory against Dolores on the 11th. As for Nucla, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 58-32 win against Mancos on the 11th.
