It was a good run, but the Rivercrest Colts unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 58-57 to Osceola. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Rivercrest came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 116th, while Osceola is ranked 234th).
Rivercrest's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mykayla Banks, who scored 20 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Mercuriah Vance, who scored seven points along with 14 rebounds and six blocks.
Rivercrest's defeat dropped their record down to 15-9. As for Osceola, their victory bumped their record up to 3-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rivercrest will take on Izard County at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Izard County is coming into the game with five straight victories on the road, meaning Rivercrest will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win. As for Osceola, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Manila at 7:00 p.m.
