D2 District 8 (8 Man) recap September 24, 2013
Wallace added to the longest winning streak in D2 District 8 (8 Man) this week by beating Loomis, 50-14. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
Wallace took down the Wolves 50-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. John Marquardt threw for 112 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 82 yards in the win.
Tristan Johnson provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Hayes Center lost to Southwest. He completed 5 passes for 62 yards and also ran for 276 yards. Johnson's key target this week was Bailey Cooper, who caught 3 passes for 42 yards.
Levi Destefano was a key player and the best on defense this week as Brady defeated Sumner-Eddyville-Miller. The 6-foot-3 junior.
Trevor Mann put up the best numbers in passing as the Eagles topped the Mustangs. He finished with a total of 11 completions for 131 yards and 2 touchdowns. Mann's favorite target this week was Troy Lusk, who caught 4 passes for 58 yards.
Austin Blume was the best receiver in the league this week as Hitchcock County defeated Bertrand. Blume tallied 8 receptions for 148 yards. Daniel Arp helped Hitchcock County's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 32 yards.
Johnson was the best running back in the league this week. Teammate Kasey Schwenk added to the ground attack by rushing for 76 yards.
Johnson was a beast in the backfield as the Cardinals lost to the Roughriders.
The Falcons' Alex Whipps and Blume have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading D2 District 8 (8 Man) in both passing and receiving yards. Whipps has thrown for 733 yards this season, while Blume has 20 catches for 432 yards. Johnson from Hayes Center leads the league in rushing with 687 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Dusty Gaston's team takes on Gary Hager's team. As it stands, the Cardinals are in fifth, while the Wildcats are in first.
Brady led the league in scoring this week after putting up 54 points on Sumner-Eddyville-Miller. Mann ran for 84 yards during the win.
