They came out on top against Fayette Academy by a score of 67-54. Sacred Heart of Jesus pushed the score to 54-30 by the end of the third, a deficit the Vikings cut but never quite recovered from.
A J Morman was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted 20 or more points the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Justin Gaines, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds.
Fayette Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Miles Dawkins, who scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zane Pike, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Sacred Heart of Jesus has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 11-8 record this season. As for Fayette Academy, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-12.
Sacred Heart of Jesus will head out on the road to square off against the Bruins at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. University School of Jackson will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. As for Fayette Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the at 6:30 p.m. on January 26th.
