The Nueva School Mavericks never got on the board in their matchup last Monday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against the Pacific Bay Christian Eagles on Wednesday. They walked away with a 66-56 win over the Eagles. That result was just more of the same for these two, as The Nueva School also won the last time the pair played on January 4th.
It was another big night for Tammer Maraqa, who scored 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Diego Agustin, who scored 15 points.
When it comes to explaining why Pacific Bay Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ethan Chau. Despite the final result, he scored 23 points. Another player making a difference was Noah Jung, who scored ten points.
The Nueva School's win bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Pacific Bay Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-12.
The Nueva School will look to defend their home court on Friday against San Francisco Christian at 7:00 p.m. San Francisco Christian comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Pacific Bay Christian, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Summit Shasta at 6:00 p.m. on January 25th. Summit Shasta knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven games -- so hopefully Pacific Bay Christian likes a good challenge.
