Clayton barely beat South Johnston the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Comets put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 14-1 victory on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Comets, who have now won six matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.
Clayton gave Gabe Schellinger the start and clearly made the right call: he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Tylen Harris and Cameron Thompson did most of the damage at the plate: Harris went 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Thompson went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Parker Kilpatrick was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, South Garner lost 14-3 to Fuquay-Varina on Friday.

Clayton's win bumped their record up to 11-5. As for South Garner, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.
South Garner's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Clayton has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .464. It's a different story for South Garner, though, as they've only averaged .359. Will they be able to contain Clayton's hitters?
