Tonkawa has gone a perfect 10-0 against Pawhuska recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Buccaneers will take on the Huskies at 5:00 p.m. Tonkawa will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
On Thursday, Tonkawa needed a bit of extra time to put away Newkirk. They won by a run and slipped past the Tigers 9-8.

Cason Johnson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Brett Shepherd was a standout: he got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Westyn Freeman, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Pawhuska hadn't done well against Caney Valley recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Huskies were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Trojans. The high-scoring effort was just what the Huskies needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
Like Tonkawa, Pawhuska also got a great game from a two-way player: Logan Cass. On the mound, Cass struck out six batters over two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Meanwhile, Corlin Cass pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. At bat, Cass went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Corlin went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Pawhuska is 3-1 when Logan posts two or more runs, but 5-10 otherwise.
In other batting news, Canyon Hindman was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Pawhuska's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 5-11 when he doesn't). Lane Kyler was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Pawhuska was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .522. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Tonkawa pushed their record up to 20-7 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Pawhuska, their record now sits at 8-11.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Tonkawa has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .450. However, it's not like Pawhuska struggles in that department as they've averaged .451. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Tonkawa came out on top in a nail-biter against Pawhuska in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 6-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Buccaneers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
