The Baboquivari Warriors's six-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Tanque Verde 44-42. The win was just what Baboquivari needed coming off of a 67-41 loss in their prior match.
Kara Baptisto was her usual excellent self, scoring 18 points along with five rebounds and five steals. That makes it 13 consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Baboquivari's points. Amani Mease was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with 12 rebounds.
Baboquivari's victory bumped their record up to 6-11. As for Tanque Verde, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.
Baboquivari's road trip will continue as they head out to face North Valley Christian Academy at 3:30 p.m. on January 6th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (North Valley Christian Academy is ranked 188th, while Baboquivari is ranked 192nd). Tanque Verde will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on San Miguel at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th.
