After a string of four wins, the Ninety Six Wildcats's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 35-26 hit to the loss column at the hands of Saluda. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Ninety Six has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Ninety Six lost, one person who can't be blamed is Janiyah Squire. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds. Squire is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games she's played.
Ninety Six's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Saluda, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-1.
Ninety Six will be playing at home against Newberry at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Saluda, they will head out on the road to take on Mid-Carolina at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mid-Carolina is on a seven-game streak of home wins, Saluda a six-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
