Orr is a perfect 3-0 against Chicago Marshall since November of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Orr Spartans will face off against the Chicago Marshall Commandos at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Orr is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They strolled past Ida Crown Jewish Academy with points to spare, taking the game 59-42. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Spartans.
Orr's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nia Crawford, who almost dropped a double-double with 20 points and nine boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Crawford has scored at least a third of Orr's points. Another player making a difference was Carmani Sharkey, who went 6-for-12 on her way to 17 points in addition to six rebounds and five steals.
Orr smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 15 offensive boards in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Chicago Marshall on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Walther Christian Academy out of the water with a 63-26 final score. The Commandos have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 matches by 24 points or more this season.
Orr better focus on containing Janiyah Green and Alysha Murphy as the pair were huge in Chicago Marshall's win. Green went 8-for-17 to rack up 20 points along with six boards and four steals, while Murphy dropped a double-double with 14 points and 16 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Murphy a new career-high in boards. Charmarre Scott was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with nine points and ten rebounds.
Chicago Marshall's victory was their tenth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 25-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.1 points over those games. As for Orr, their win bumped their record up to 21-5.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Orr has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27.8 boards per game. However, it's not like Chicago Marshall struggles in that department as they've been averaging 35.6 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Orr skirted past Chicago Marshall 57-54 in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Will Orr repeat their success, or does Chicago Marshall have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
