The Marquette Catholic Blazers extended their postseason success on Saturday against the Triton Trojans. They came out on top against the Trojans by a score of 52-39. Given Marquette Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 110th, while the Trojans are ranked 249th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Laniah Davis continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a double-double on 30 points and nine rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted 18 or more points the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Natalie Robinson, who scored five points along with eight steals and six rebounds.
The win (which was Marquette Catholic's third in a row) raised their record to 21-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.0 points per game. As for Triton, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-14.
Marquette Catholic and the Cherokees will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 10th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Morgan Township is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games. Triton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
