The Rice Bulldogs came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with 14 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past Scurry-Rosser, posting a 74-35 victory on the road. Rice has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matchups by 27 points or more this season.
Saniya Burks continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a double-double on 36 points and nine rebounds. That makes it 24 consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Rice's points. Another player making a difference was Aaliyah Nezar, who scored 21 points along with three steals.
Rice pushed their record up to 20-4 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.5 points per game. As for Scurry-Rosser, they now have a losing record at 14-15.
Rice will take on Malakoff at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Rice's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 11 games. As for Scurry-Rosser, they will square off against Grandview at TBD on Monday. Grandview will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Scurry-Rosser surely won't give up without a fight.
