Steinmetz College Prep had lost nine straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 5-21 to make it ten. They came up short against the Disney II Titans, falling 13-4. The Silver Streaks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Titans earlier this season, when they won 9-8.
Steinmetz College Prep got a good showing from Carlos Morales, who pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off one hit. That one hit allowed gave Morales a new career-low.
On the hitting side, Steinmetz College Prep saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elias Flores, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
As for Disney II, their victory bumped their record up to 10-11. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by eight runs or more this season.
On Disney II's side, Maximus Sanchez made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. Sanchez also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Disney II is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-11 otherwise. Sanchez was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, Marcus Grier and Cesar Urquieta did most of the damage at the plate: Grier got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs, while Urquieta got on base in three of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Grier has become a key player for Disney II: the team is 7-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-9 otherwise. Avery Coughlin was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Steinmetz College Prep will venture away from home to face off against Bogan at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bengals will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Silver Streaks surely won't give up without a fight. As for Disney II, they will head out on the road to square off against Ogden International at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
