The Webster County Trojans will take on the Hancock County Hornets at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Webster County proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 11) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Trinity, sneaking past 10-8. The win continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won four in a row.

The team relied heavily on Jackson Edens, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jameson Newton, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Hancock County was not the first on the board on Tuesday, but they got there more often. They came out on top against Hopkins County Central by a score of 7-4.
Carson Clark was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Hancock County is 3-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 4-14 otherwise. Clark was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Jack Roberts was incredible, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs. Hancock County is 2-1 when Roberts posts two or more stolen bases, but 5-14 otherwise.
The victory got Webster County back to even at 12-12. As for Hancock County, their win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-15.
Webster County came up short against Hancock County in their previous meeting back in April of 2019, falling 8-5. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
