If the Northside Christian Academy Knights were riding high off their 68-19 takedown of the Hickory Grove Christian Lions on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Northside Christian Academy fell just short of Victory Christian Center by a score of 36-33. Northside Christian Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Victory Christian Center apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Despite the loss, Northside Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: JaKaila Gaskin dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds. Gaskin is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Courtney Ashford, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Northside Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 15-10. As for Victory Christian Center, their win bumped their record up to 12-9.
Northside Christian Academy and Westminster Catawba Christian will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Westminster Catawba Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 256th in South Carolina, while Northside Christian Academy is ranked 86th in North Carolina). As for Victory Christian Center, they will head out on the road to challenge Gaston Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Gaston Christian is out to stop a six-game streak of losses at home.
