The Franklin Yellowjackets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their seventh straight loss. They were dealt a 113-21 loss at the hands of Weston Ranch. Franklin was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 63-13.
Mateen Rafiq was his usual excellent self, scoring 37 points along with nine assists and eight rebounds for Weston Ranch. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Rafiq has scored all season. Darrion Lilly was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds.
Franklin bumped their record down to 1-17 with that loss, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Weston Ranch, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 15-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Franklin will take on Edison at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Edison presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Franklin in California (Edison is ranked 338th, while Franklin is ranked 1248th). As for Weston Ranch, they will head out on the road to square off against Linden at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
