After a string of four wins, the Bonsall Legionnaires's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 40-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of Gompers Prep Academy. Bonsall has not had much luck with Gompers Prep Academy recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Bonsall lost, one person who can't be blamed is Nathan Winebrenner. Despite the final result, he scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The matchup was Winebrenner's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Phoenix Young, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds.
Bonsall's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Gompers Prep Academy, their win bumped their record up to 1-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bonsall will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on The Cambridge School at 5:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024. As for Gompers Prep Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Rock Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Rock Academy is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 55.6 points per game.
