Calvin Christian hasn't had much luck against Escondido Charter recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Crusaders will look to defend their home field against the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Calvin Christian put up the most runs they have all season on Saturday. They came out on top against Rock Academy by a score of 12-8. The Crusaders haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Tyler Hoff made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Caleb Lapka was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Aidan Domingue, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Calvin Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rock Academy only managed six hits.
Meanwhile, Escondido Charter entered their tilt with Army-Navy on Tuesday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Warriors an 11-0 shutout. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by seven runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Silas Telfer, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Sam Romero was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Escondido Charter's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Calvin Christian, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Calvin Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Escondido Charter struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Calvin Christian might still be hurting after the 15-2 loss they got from Escondido Charter in their previous matchup back in April of 2022. Will the Crusaders have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
