The Madison-Ridgeland Academy Patriots will face off against the Starkville Yellowjackets at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Madison-Ridgeland Academy's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Starkville's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Madison-Ridgeland Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Tipton-Rosemark Academy 10-1 on Saturday. The Patriots haven't had any issues with the Rebels recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Aiden Peets looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. That's the first time he hasn't allowed a single hit since back in March of 2024.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Will Bizot, who scored four runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Ryan Carpenter also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Madison-Ridgeland Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tipton-Rosemark Academy only posted a batting average of .053.
Meanwhile, Starkville had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured an 8-7 W against the Wolverines.
Tyson Knox was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Zay Spencer, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Starkville pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Madison-Ridgeland Academy, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Madison-Ridgeland Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Starkville in their previous meeting back in March of 2020, winning 8-4. Will Madison-Ridgeland Academy repeat their success, or does Starkville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
