The South Aiken Thoroughbreds will head out on the road to take on the Midland Valley Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (South Aiken is ranked 211th, while Midland Valley is ranked 216th).
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but South Aiken ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They managed a 57-52 win over Airport. South Aiken didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this victory makes it their second in a row.
Ladontae Felton was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 26 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Tyler Nipper was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with six steals.
Meanwhile, Midland Valley's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their 11th straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 64-50 to Aiken.
South Aiken's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-15. As for Midland Valley, they bumped their record down to 1-12 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road.
South Aiken was taken down by Midland Valley 77-48 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Thankfully for South Aiken, Justin Lloyd (who scored 30 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
